The Garden

Plants grow densely in the garden of Kōshin-an, and in spring the wisteria blossoms swaying in the wind draw many visitors. Loaches and killifish swim swiftly in the pond, and the sound of insects living among the bush clover and Japanese pampas grass can be heard. Here we can enjoy seasonal flowers, such as plum, cherry, peony, iris, morning glory, chrysanthemum, and camellia. Chodō’s haiku were inspired by his experience of the cycle of the seasons in this garden.
